A new resident joins Hanahan, South Carolina – a town outside of Charleston. It’s not a human being either. An alligator with an orange, rusty color made its way into town.
Alligators are not born with an orange colored skin. It is most likely an environmental factor that caused the alligator to become orange, rather than a genetic issue. The color could have come from rusty steel pipes, algae or something else. At this point, nobody knows exactly why this alligator is orange.
